Our bodies are our first home and deserve to be celebrated no matter what shape or size! This book encourages young readers to celebrate their physical differences and take care of themselves through simple acts like brushing their teeth, washing their hands, and finding healthy ways to channel their feelings. This empathetic picture book instills confidence and encourages empathy in children starting to take notice of how they look

A Little More…

Shelly and Nomi have been friends since 2004 when Nomi came to visit her big sister Hannah at Wellesley College. In the summer of 2018, Nomi and Shelly were hanging at the beach and decided that together they wanted to create a children's book about body positivity and body awareness. The words and ideas flowed from there and "I Love My Body Because" was created.

Shelly and Nomi are grateful to their agent Saba Sulamain at Talcott-Notch for her insight, their editor Kendra Levin at Simon & Schuster for supporting their vision, Amanda Ramirez at Simon & Schuster who assures all the details are attended to with care, and Erika Medina whose art brought the book to life.

We are excited to share our words and mindset with children, the adults who read to them, and the child in all of us.
